In substack, there are two types of accounts; a reader account allows you to read other people's posts and a publication allows you to write your own posts or notes. In order to Post, you need a publication. This link is from the Substack Health Centre https://support.substack.com/hc/en-us/articles/29152946791188-How-can-I-publish-on-Substack. You need a profile name (mine is Diane the FH Bowerbird) where many people use their name, a publication name (mine is Family History Bowerbird), your handle @ is your publication name with no spaces (@familyhistorybowerbird) and your substack url will be yoursubstackname.substack.com (mine is familyhistorybowerbird.substack.com). There are some good how to articles on the Mission: Genealogy substack at https://missiongenealogy.substack.com/. Mission: Genealogy helps new genealogists navigate substack.
